What Kinds of Homes are Eligible for the Homebuyer Choice Program?

When looking for your dream home, keep these requirements in mind.

 

TYPE

Single-family homes, including detached townhomes.

 

Cooperative units, condominiums and manufactured homes are not currently eligible

LOCATION

Located within the incorporated areas of the City of Houston.

 

Pays property taxes to the City of Houston and Harris County.

FLOOD HAZARD

Not situated in a flood plain or 100-year flood zone.

 

Not situated in a 500-year flood zone unless fully compliant with current flood ordinances and the homebuyer agrees to purchase flood insurance.

CONDITION

Must pass required inspections.

 

All systems in good condition with no need for substantial repairs within the first five years.

Insurable with a regular homeowner's insurance policy.

CONTRACT PRICE

Maximum offer price of $244,000.

If the home is located within an A- or B-rate school zone, the maximum offer price is up to $294,000.
